Playing Catch-Up

A lot has happened over the past couple years since my last entry. On March 13, 2007, Mom died due to lung cancer just a few months after being diagnosed. Connie and I took care of her as much and as well as we could before her final hospitalization. There just aren't words to express how awful it was to see her go through that and to lose her. I miss her terribly and think of her every day.

Cory's joined the fire department and is now an official junior fireman. He won't be allowed to fight house fires until he's 18 so meanwhile he'll be helping others take care of the fire station, the vehicles and equipment and helping to put out the rare smaller brush fires. He's planning to work with his dad on the railroad after high school and then become a policeman.

Jessicah's working on earning an honors diploma for graduation so she's taking honors classes and doubling up on her classes. If things go as she has planned, she'll have all her high school credits met before she even starts her senior year. She wants to go to OSU after graduation to become a special needs teacher. She wants to teach children who have Autism.

Trey's in fourth grade now and having trouble with his spelling class but is otherwise doing well. He's been mainstreamed into the "regular" social studies and science classes. He wants to be a scientist when he grows up. He's sleeping much better and is usually asleep before 11:00 at night. He's ok with having a sheet on his bed and is even wearing underwear now! The next step is to see if he can wear socks and then to see if he can wear jeans. As he gets older the differences between him and other boys his age are painfully visible. I worry about how it will be when he starts noticing those differences, too.

Monday I started working at McDonald's. I've worked there before, but at a different location. I really enjoy it and hope to be able to get a promotion. Monday I was scheduled 12:00-5:00pm, but we were slow so I had to leave around 2:00. I wasn't scheduled to work today but I was asked to go in around 10:00am so I went in and worked until 7:00 tonight. Tomorrow I work 6:00 to midnight, Thursday I work 7:00 to midnight and Saturday 2:00-9:00pm.

Jerry and I ride the Harley (we have a Nightrain now) as often as we can and we go to the Legion on the weekends. Saturday we took the quad out and rode with a bunch of others (at one time there were 20 of us riding together). We were gone all day and had a really nice time even though he did drop me in a deep mud puddle.
